Mud Vacuum Degasser is a key piece of solids control equipment used in drilling operations to remove entrained gases (such as air, methane, or H₂S) from drilling fluid (mud).
How it works:
It uses a vacuum pump to create suction inside a vessel. Gas-cut mud is drawn in and sprayed against baffles or a rotating paddle, creating a thin film that allows trapped gas bubbles to expand and escape. The removed gas is safely vented away, while the degassed mud is returned to the system.
Primary Benefit:
It restores the mud’s proper density and prevents the risk of blowouts, ensuring safe and efficient drilling.
